Candle Care

Here we share with you how to get the best use out of your candles to ensure longevity and most importantly safety.

Container Candles

  • When using your candle for the first time, ensure you burn it for a minimum of 1 hour or once the melt pool reaches the sides of the glass or container. This will prevent the candle tunnelling down and leaving unmelted wax around the sides.
  • Keep wicks trimmed to 5mm to ensure that your candle is burning gently. If your candle is creating an uneven burn, simply adjust the wick to the centre of the glass or container.
  • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time and let it cool completely before relighting. Never burn the candle right down to the bottom.
  • Keep candles out of direct sunlight as discolouration may occur.
  • As will all candles, failure to follow instructions could result in fire, hazard or injury. Please refer to the warning label on the bottom of each candle.

Pillar Candles

  • When using your candle for the first time, ensure you have removed all packaging, please keep the warning label at the base of the candle in place and refer to it when needed.
  • Burn your pillar candle for a minimum of 3 hours or once the melt pool has achieved an even burn with an outer crust of approximately 10-15mm. This will ensure that the flame will tunnel down inside the candle making spills much less likely.

Useful Tools

There are a number of tools available to help maintain your candles. If you would like more information, please let us know.

  • Wick trimmers can trim your wicks to a precise length, leaving the guess work our of how long should the wick be to create a safe and lasting burn. Alternatively you may use a pair of scissors to trim the wicks.
  • ┬áCandle snuffers or dippers are available to extinguish the flame. We personally prefer the wick dipping method as it not only safely extinguishes the wick by dipping it into the molten wax, but it also primes the wick ready for its next use. We do not recommend blowing out candles and there is potential to blow hot wax onto another person or surface causing injury or damage to surfaces.
